Breaking: West Plains offensive lineman Keegan Collins declared his verbal commitment to join the Kansas State University football program on Monday.
West Plains High School offensive lineman Keegan Collins took a major step in his athletic and academic future on Monday, announcing his verbal commitment to the Kansas State University football program. The three-star prospect has been a cornerstone of the Zizzers’ offensive line and is widely regarded as one of the top linemen in the region.
Collins made the announcement via social media, expressing his excitement and gratitude. “After a lot of thought, prayer, and conversations with my family and coaches, I’m excited to announce my verbal commitment to Kansas State University! Go Cats!” he wrote.
Standing at 6-foot-5 and weighing in at 285 pounds, Collins has garnered attention from several Division I programs over the past year thanks to his size, technique, and tenacity in the trenches. His performance on the field has been instrumental in West Plains’ recent success, anchoring an offensive line that consistently opened up running lanes and provided solid pass protection throughout the 2024 season.
Kansas State’s coaching staff extended an offer to Collins earlier this spring, and he visited the campus in Manhattan last month. Sources close to the recruitment say the program’s emphasis on physicality and player development, combined with a welcoming atmosphere, played a key role in his decision.
“Keegan is a tremendous leader and a hard worker,” said West Plains head coach Matt Perkins. “Kansas State is getting not just a great football player, but a great young man. We’re all incredibly proud of him.”
While Collins’ commitment is currently verbal and non-binding, he is expected to officially sign with Kansas State during the early signing period in December.
As he prepares for his senior season at West Plains, Collins remains focused on continuing to grow both on and off the field. With his future in the Big 12 now taking shape, fans and coaches alike will be watching closely as he aims to lead the Zizzers to another successful campaign in the fall.
