Miami, FL — June 4, 2025
The Miami Heat have officially announced plans to immortalize one of the franchise’s greatest legends, Dwyane Wade, with a life-sized bronze statue. According to ESPN, the team revealed the news during a special press conference held at Kaseya Center (formerly known as FTX Arena), where team executives, former players, and fans gathered to celebrate the legacy of the three-time NBA champion.
Wade, who played 16 seasons in the NBA — the majority of which were with the Heat — is widely considered the greatest player in franchise history. Known for his electrifying performances, leadership, and loyalty to Miami, Wade led the team to three NBA championships (2006, 2012, and 2013) and was named Finals MVP in 2006.
The bronze statue will be installed prominently outside the arena, becoming a permanent tribute to Wade’s contributions both on and off the court. Team President Pat Riley expressed deep admiration for the former shooting guard, calling the statue “a symbol of excellence, perseverance, and championship spirit that Dwyane embodied throughout his career.”
Construction on the statue is scheduled to begin later this summer, with completion expected in early 2026. The design is said to feature Wade in his iconic pose — one arm raised triumphantly after a game-winning play. Renowned sculptor Omri Amrany, known for creating statues of other NBA greats like Michael Jordan and Shaquille O’Neal, has been commissioned for the project.
Wade, who was recently inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, expressed his gratitude during the announcement via a heartfelt video message. “Miami is home,” Wade said. “This statue isn’t just about me — it’s about the fans, the team, and every moment we shared together. I’m honored beyond words.”
Fans and former teammates have taken to social media to celebrate the news, with hashtags like #WadeStatue and #HeatLegend trending across platforms. The statue unveiling is expected to draw thousands once completed, serving as a new landmark in Miami and a lasting reminder of Dwyane Wade’s enduring legacy.
