**Wolfe: Jonnu Smith Focused on Money in Recent Dolphins Discussions | ‘The Insiders’**

Tight end Jonnu Smith has found himself in the headlines once again, this time for his reported stance in recent conversations with the Miami Dolphins. According to NFL insider James Wolfe on *The Insiders*, Smith’s focus in the ongoing talks has been clear: it’s all about the money.

“From everything we’re hearing, Jonnu Smith is prioritizing financial value above all else,” Wolfe said. “The Dolphins like his skill set, but this isn’t about scheme or opportunity — Smith wants to get paid.”

Smith, who was released by the Atlanta Falcons earlier this offseason, has drawn interest from multiple teams looking for a reliable veteran tight end. Miami, dealing with depth concerns at the position, emerged as a potential suitor. But according to Wolfe, the Dolphins have been hesitant to meet Smith’s asking price, which may be higher than the current market supports.

At 28 years old, Smith brings athleticism and versatility — particularly as a pass-catching threat in space. But his production has been inconsistent, and that’s added a layer of caution for teams interested in signing him. While the Dolphins recognize his potential value, especially in a Mike McDaniel-led offense, their front office remains committed to smart spending amid salary cap considerations.

“Jonnu still has plenty to offer a team,” Wolfe added. “But the Dolphins are trying to find the right balance between roster improvement and financial flexibility. Right now, there’s a gap.”

It remains to be seen whether the two sides can bridge that gap. But one thing is certain: if Jonnu Smith wants to wear aqua and orange in 2025, the deal will have to make sense for both parties — not just his bank account.
