ESPN Reports: Cameron Ward Responds to Reports of Being Removed from Titans Facility for Arriving Early at OTAs

Tennessee Titans rookie quarterback Cameron Ward has spoken out following reports that he was asked to leave the team facility after showing up early for Organized Team Activities (OTAs).

The story first surfaced Monday morning when a local sports outlet claimed Ward had been removed from the Titans’ facility after arriving ahead of the scheduled team workout. According to the report, team personnel informed Ward that he was not permitted to be on-site before the official start time of voluntary OTA sessions, citing NFL rules designed to limit offseason activity and ensure fairness across the league.

Ward, a third-round draft pick out of Washington State and one of the more closely watched rookie quarterbacks this offseason, addressed the incident on social media.

> “Just trying to be a pro and get better every day,” Ward wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “No hard feelings at all. I respect the rules. I love this game and just want to give my all to this team.”

Sources close to the Titans confirmed that the situation was not disciplinary in nature and that the team remains fully supportive of Ward’s development. A team spokesperson also emphasized that the staff appreciates Ward’s enthusiasm and dedication but that all players must abide by league guidelines regarding offseason activities.

NFL rules restrict players and coaches from engaging in unscheduled practices and meetings during OTAs to maintain competitive balance and protect players’ offseason recovery time. While voluntary, these sessions are closely monitored, and even well-intentioned early arrivals can raise compliance concerns.

Titans head coach Brian Callahan briefly commented on the situation during his Tuesday media availability.

> “Cameron’s a great young man with a strong work ethic. We’re excited about his progress. Sometimes these things happen — he meant well, and we’re just making sure everything’s by the book.”

Ward is expected to compete for the backup quarterback spot behind Will Levis this season. His strong arm, mobility, and leadership have impressed coaches and teammates during early camp sessions.

Despite the minor setback, it’s clear that Ward’s determination and attitude are being noticed — even if it means getting to work a little too early.
