New York Giants’ standout linebacker Kayvon Thibodeaux is turning heads off the field with a massive philanthropic gesture that’s nearing completion. The 24-year-old NFL star is funding and overseeing the construction of a state-of-the-art orphanage home, a sprawling $50 million project that is set to open its doors later this year.
The orphanage, located in the greater Los Angeles area near Thibodeaux’s hometown, will provide shelter, education, mentorship, and emotional support to hundreds of children without families. The initiative reflects Thibodeaux’s deep-rooted commitment to service and his belief in using his platform to create lasting change.
“I find joy in giving to those in need because my purpose is bigger than football,” Thibodeaux told ESPN in an exclusive interview. “When I was growing up, I saw so many kids who didn’t have stability, who didn’t have someone to look out for them. I promised myself that if I ever had the opportunity, I’d build something that could really change lives.”
The facility, called The Jream Foundation Home—named after Thibodeaux’s nonprofit, JREAM Foundation (Journey to Reach Every Aspirational Milestone)—features residential buildings, classrooms, a wellness center, athletic facilities, and a career development hub. It will offer a holistic approach to care, combining academics, counseling, sports, and life-skills training.
Thibodeaux, a 2022 first-round draft pick out of Oregon, has been actively involved in the project from day one, reportedly contributing a significant portion of his own NFL earnings alongside private donations and corporate partnerships. He’s been seen visiting the site frequently during the offseason, checking in on construction progress and meeting with local community leaders and child welfare experts.
“This isn’t just a donation or a vanity project. Kayvon is hands-on. He’s involved in every detail—down to the paint on the walls,” said Michelle Givens, Director of Community Programs for the JREAM Foundation. “He wants these kids to know that someone truly cares about their future.”
Giants head coach Brian Daboll praised Thibodeaux’s character and leadership, saying, “Kayvon is the kind of guy who brings energy and heart to everything he does—on and off the field. We’re proud of him and the example he’s setting.”
The orphanage is expected to open in fall 2025 and will initially house around 150 children, with plans to expand in the future. The JREAM Foundation has also announced partnerships with local schools and healthcare providers to ensure long-term support for its residents.
As for Thibodeaux, his vision extends beyond a single facility. “This is just the beginning,” he said. “I want to build more homes like this in cities across the country. Every child deserves a chance to dream big—and to have someone who believes in them.”
