With Heart Full of Hope, Ja Morant Launches “Hope Rising Foundation” to Transform the Lives of Children with Disabilities — Providing Free Healthcare, Basic Needs, and Endless Love

It was a radiant morning in Memphis, Tennessee — the kind of morning where sunlight doesn’t just warm the skin, but stirs the spirit. Standing before a crowd of smiling children, teary-eyed parents, and curious reporters, NBA superstar Ja Morant stepped to the podium with something far greater than a basketball in his hand — he held a vision.

“I grew up with dreams, and I know how important it is to believe in something bigger than yourself,” he began, his voice steady, his heart open. “Today, I’m proud to launch something close to my soul — the Hope Rising Foundation.”

The foundation, Morant explained, would focus on children with disabilities — often forgotten, underestimated, and underserved. “Hope Rising” wasn’t just another charity. It was a movement.

More Than Just a Name

The name Hope Rising was born out of personal inspiration. During the offseason, Ja had spent time volunteering at a children’s hospital, where he met 9-year-old Elijah — a boy born with cerebral palsy who, despite his physical limitations, lit up every room with his laughter and boundless spirit. When Elijah looked up at Ja and said, “I just want to run one day like you do,” something shifted in the young star.

That night, Ja couldn’t sleep. He wrote down two words in his journal: Hope Rising. The next morning, the vision began.

A Mission of Action

At its core, the foundation is committed to three pillars:

1. Free Healthcare for Children with Disabilities:

From prosthetics to therapy, surgeries to mobility aids, Hope Rising partners with top medical institutions across the U.S. to ensure that no child goes without the care they need.

2. Meeting Basic Needs:

Nutrition, shelter, clothing — the foundation guarantees ongoing support for families facing the financial strain that often comes with raising a child with disabilities. Emergency funds and regular supply drops are coordinated monthly.

3. Endless Love and Inclusion:

“Love is the one thing we all deserve without earning it,” Ja said during the launch. “These kids don’t need our pity. They need our presence. Our belief in them.”

The foundation also plans to build inclusive play spaces in underserved communities and organize yearly “Dream Camps” — fully accessible sports camps where children with disabilities can play, train, and be mentored by Ja and other athletes.

The Power of Purpose

Social media buzzed with praise, but Ja was not concerned with headlines. He was too busy kneeling next to a young girl named Maya, who was born without the use of her legs. When asked what she wanted most, she simply replied, “A place where I’m not different.”

“You’re not different here,” Ja whispered. “You’re the reason we’re here.”

For Ja Morant, Hope Rising is more than a philanthropic project — it’s a legacy. A promise. A reminder that greatness isn’t only found in championships or highlight reels, but in the courage to lift others, especially when the world tries to push them down.

As the crowd dispersed and the event wound down, Ja stayed behind, laughing with the children, pushing wheelchairs like racecars, helping hand out teddy bears and art supplies. He wasn’t the celebrity that day — he was family.

Because when you lead with heart, hope doesn’t just rise — it soars.
