Wrexham’s four-man shortlist to replace Paul Mullin includes two former England players.
Paul Mullin’s time at Wrexham looks likely to come to an end this summer, after the striker failed to make an impact in the second half of last season.
Wrexham and Paul Mullin look set to part ways this summer. It comes after Mullin played just once after January in the second half of last season, being completely exiled by manager Phil Parkinson.
Speaking recently, Mullin gave his verdict on his Wrexham exile, explaining that he didn’t understand why Parkinson lost faith in him. Parkinson said that Mullin simply fell down the pecking order at the Racecourse.
Now it looks like Mullin is nailed on to leave the club this summer. In fact, recent reports have revealed how Wigan Athletic remain in talks to sign Mullin this summer, with the Latics potentially set to sign the Wrexham hero on a free transfer.
Already this summer, Wrexham have signed Ryan Hardie. But expect Parkinson to want another striker addition this summer, especially if Mullin leaves along with the likes of Ollie Palmer too.
Here are the four strikers linked with a move to Wrexham this summer…

Jamie Vardy
Former England and Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy will be on the move this summer. Vardy is leaving Leicester City as a free agent and throughout the year there have been reports linking the 38-year-old with a move to the Racecourse.
So far though, there’s been little to suggest that a move is set to materialise. Vardy has interest from the MLS and could even be handed a Premier League lifeline by the likes of Leeds United or Crystal Palace who have both been linked.

Joe Gelhardt
Leeds striker Joe Gelhardt is another who’s been mentioned alongside Parkinson’s side throughout 2025. Wrexham have wanted to sign Gelhardt for some time and following the Whites’ promotion to the Premier League, Gelhardt looks destined to move.
But speaking to Wrexham Insider, transfer expert Graeme Bailey revealed how Gelhardt is likely to leave Leeds United on loan once again, rather than on a permanent deal, suggesting that few teams can afford his wages. Bailey also moved to play down a Wrexham move for Gelhardt entirely.

Patrick Bamford
Gelhardt’s Leeds United teammate Patrick Bamford seems to be in a very similar boat this summer: out-of-favour and looking likely to be moved on following the club’s promotion.
Bamford is hugely experienced in the Championship and the Premier League, and another former England man, too, albeit with just the one cap to his name.
Expect the 31-year-old to have a number of suitors this summer. But expect Wrexham to be well in the running having shown an interest in signing Bamford throughout the year.
Callum Robinson
Cardiff City hitman Callum Robinson is another name who could replace Mullin at Wrexham this summer. Following the Bluebirds’ relegation to League One, it was reported that Wrexham are interested in signing Robinson who scored 12 in 34 Championship games for Cardiff last season.
The latest on this story is that Preston North End have joined the race for Robinson, who used to play his football for the Lilywhites. Robinson, 30, previously joined Cardiff City from West Brom in a £1.5million deal in 2022.
