Youssef Chermiti ‘transfer truth’ as Everton stance on Stoke City move made clear
Senior figures at Everton are said to have dismissed reports linking Chermiti with a loan move to Stoke this summer
It seems Everton’s Youssef Chermiti is not on the brink of a loan move, to Stoke City or anywhere else, despite reports suggesting the 21-year-old was set for a season playing in the Championship.
The website Sport Witness, citing Africa Foot as a source, had claimed Chermiti was ‘very close’ to signing a season-long loan deal with the Potters.
The report claimed a source close to the player had told Africa Foot Stoke manager Mark Robins was keen on securing the striker’s services.
It was further suggested that Robins was eager to finalise the transfer swiftly due to competition from Preston North End, Sheffield United and Oxford United.
However, these claims have left both senior Everton and Stoke insiders perplexed, according to our sister website the Liverpool Echo.
When approached by the Echo, a member of Everton’s staff insisted there was no truth in the claims at present.

Chermiti joined Everton from Sporting CP in August 2023 after scoring three goals in 22 matches for a fee of €12.5m, potentially rising to €15m with add-ons.
However, the Azores-born player has yet to score in 24 senior games in English football and was plagued by injuries throughout the 2024/25 season.
Blues manager David Moyes is understood to believe a loan spell could be beneficial for Chermiti as he adjusts to the British game. But for the time being, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s contract set to run out at the end of this month, Chermiti is the only other striker option to Beto in Everton’s first team until potential new signings are made.
When that happens, it seems likely Chermiti will be sent out on loan, but there is not guarantee that Stoke are in the market for him.
