FLW has been told that Coventry City are the latest club to register an interest in Blackburn midfielder Lewis Travis, who has already been wanted by quite a few Championship outfits this summer.
We exclusively revealed earlier in June that Derby County manager John Eustace wanted to re-unite with the 27-year-old at Pride Park after managing him at Ewood Park, and they were said to have joined Wrexham in the running for his services.
However, as of last week, the Red Dragons’ interest in Travis had cooled somewhat, leaving Derby in the clear at the time to make a play for Travis’ services – that is until Coventry have now entered the mix.

Coventry have a number of midfielders who can operate in the deeper-lying roles that are under contract ahead of the 2025-26 season, such as January recruit Matt Grimes, who joined from Swansea City, club captain Ben Sheaf, who has one year remaining on his contract although the Sky Blues hold an optional extension in their favour, Danish playmaker Victor Torp and also home-grown Josh Eccles.
Regardless of this, Lampard is lining up a move for Travis to even further bolster his ranks ahead of the new campaign, although it remains to be seen if City will submit an official offer in the near future.
Lewis Travis’ Blackburn Rovers contract situation as Coventry City enter transfer battle
Travis, who played 38 times for Blackburn in the Championship last season as they finished seventh in the table, has been at Rovers since 2014, just after he was released from Liverpool’s academy.
Blackburn could be forced to cash in on their captain this summer though, as they are embroiled in a contract saga with him – he has just one year remaining on his current deal in Lancashire.
It was recently reported by Alan Nixon that Blackburn were “struggling” to get Travis to commit to a new contract despite one being on the table, and this summer would perhaps represent their last chance to get a fee for his services, given the fact that if his current situation continues, the engine room operator could negotiate a pre-contract arrangement in January 2026 with a non-English club.
