Kerkez excited to join ‘biggest club in England’ Liverpool as he completes move from Bournemouth
Milos Kerkez says it is an “honour” to join “the biggest club in England” Liverpool after completing his move from Bournemouth.
The Premier League Champions have officially unveiled Kerkez as their latest signing of the summer transfer window, with the 21-year-old left-back arriving from Bournemouth in a deal worth £40 million.
The Hungarian international has signed a five-year contract that will keep him at Anfield until 2030.
Kerkez makes the move to Anfield after two impressive seasons with Bournemouth, where he made 74 appearances, scored two goals and registered eight assists.
Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com, the Hungary international said: “I’m really happy.
“It’s a real honour for me, a privilege to come to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world, [the] biggest club in England. I’m just really, really happy and excited.
“I just want to thank everyone for really showing me big love, even before it will be announced now.
“And keep supporting the team like you support always, because you’re the biggest fan base in the world.
“I’m going to give everything – absolutely everything – to win trophies with the club and to hopefully score some goals at Anfield. I can’t wait to hear the roar. And see you soon.”
Kerkez is the third major addition of the window following the arrivals of Jeremie Frimpong (£29m) and Florian Wirtz (£116m) from Bayer Leverkusen. Goalkeepers Armin Pecsi (£3m) and Giorgi Mamardashvili (£29m, agreed last summer) have also joined in what has been a busy summer so far for the club.
Kerkez’s arrival strengthens Liverpool’s options at left-back and adds further depth to a young, ambitious squad, while there is also uncertainty around the future of Andy Robertson.
He also becomes the third Hungarian player at the club, joining captain Dominik Szoboszlai and goalkeeper Armin Pecsi.
His attacking flair, work rate, and defensive maturity have marked him out as one of the league’s brightest young full-backs. Now, he will look to make his mark at Anfield and help push Liverpool towards more silverware under head coach Arne Slot.
Kerkez’s first match in Liverpool colours could be their pre-season friendly against Preston North End on 13 July.
Official: Liverpool Sign Left Back Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth
The Reds have made their third signing of the summer, signing the talented young Hungarian international in a £40M deal.
There are some transfers that rather seem to come out of nowhere. Milos Kerkez’ move to join Liverpool from Bournemouth in a £40M deal is not one of those transfers, with the 21-year-old left back considered a lock to join the Reds for months now.
Official, though, is still a mighty big step, no matter how certain things seem. And today it’s official. Milos Kerkez is Liverpool’s newest signing after the Reds and Bournemouth agreed a £40M deal and the player passed his medical and put pen to paper.
Kerkez has been heavily linked with Liverpool for much of 2025, and the player—brought to Bournemouth in 2023 from AZ Alkmaar by current Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes—has been mentioned as a possibility back into the autumn.
While there is yet to be any kind of official confirmation of the fee, it’s been widely been reported to be in the region of £40M, which given Kerkez’ talent and that he signed at Bournemouth two years ago for £18M doesn’t seem unreasonable.
His arrival follows the signings of right back Jeremie Frimpong and superstar attacker Florian Wirtz, both from Bayer Leverkusen, and it will likely lead to one of Liverpool’s current left backs moving on from the club now in search of playing time.
Previously, most speculation had assumed starter Andy Robertson would compete for the starting role with Kerkez while Kostas Tsimikas moved on, but recent rumours linking Robertson with Atletico Madrid have hinted at a different answer.
