Giorgio Scalvini twist out of Italy as Newcastle United told interesting transfer stance from Atalanta..
Newcastle United have been informed about how Atalanta truly feel about selling talented young defender Giorgio Scalvini this summer.
Business has picked up on Tyneside after a worrying first month of the summer transfer window, with Eddie Howe now taking his efforts to improve his starting XI up a notch.
Newcastle United have been busy working on transfers over the past week and finally got a breakthrough with Nottingham Forest winger Anthony Elanga after tabling a £55m bid for him. It now looks like Elanga will soon be a Newcastle player, with the 23-year-old keen on the move.
Now, Newcastle have turned their attention to Giorgio Scalvini. The defender was barely seen during the 2024/25 campaign due to two long-term injuries, but Howe and his recruitment team have seen enough to pursue a move.
Reports on Friday stated that Newcastle value Scalvini at £30m, but it is believed that they will need to pay much more to get Atalanta to budge. Scalvini has talked about his hopes of a Premier League move in the past; those dreams could now come true if the stars align.
However, reports in Italy have now shared an interesting update on Atalanta’s feelings towards selling the young defender, which could put the deal in jeopardy.

Atalanta see Newcastle United target Giorgio Scalvini as ‘unsellable’
Unfortunately, it is not the news that Newcastle staff or fans wanted to hear. Scalvini is destined for greatness, that is according to Gian Piero Gasperini, who gave the defender his debut aged 17.
It is clear that Atalanta are fully aware of what Scalvini can achieve and are not willing to let the defender go easily.
