Exclusive: Sunderland submit Romaine Mundle offer after PSV and Premier League club moves..

Sunderland are offering Romaine Mundle a new contract to fend off growing interest in him, sources have told Football Insider.

Sunderland do not want to sell Mundle as they prepare for life back in the Premier League and talks are ongoing over a new deal.

Last season, the Englishman was plagued with a hamstring injury, but impressed during his 17 Championship starts and scored five league goals across the course of the campaign.

Sunderland look to continue impressive summer with Mundle contract
Ahead of their first foray into the Premier League since 2017, Sunderland are having an extremely impressive summer transfer window.

The Black Cats did lose Jobe Bellingham to Borussia Dortmund, but they have more than reinvested the money they received in some big signings.

Regis Le Bris’ side are now turning their attention to retaining some of the talent they already have within their squad.

Mundle came through the ranks at Tottenham’s academy before joining Belgian side Standard Liege in 2023.

After just six months on the continent, the forward made the switch to Sunderland, where he has shown promising sparks at times.

The Black Cats will hope they can keep hold of the youngster and allow him to kick on in the Premier League.

‘Sunderland make Anthony Patterson U-turn’
Meanwhile, Sunderland have reportedly made a U-turn on their decision surrounding the sale of Anthony Patterson this summer.

That is according to their former scout Mick Brown, who claims that Le Bris is open to keeping the 25-year-old in the North East.

The Black Cats had previously planned to bring in a nailed-on first-choice goalkeeper, which would have facilitated Patterson’s exit amid interest from the likes of Southampton.

However, the addition of Wolves goalkeeper Sam Johnstone would more likely see them drum up competition for the number-one shirt between their two options.
