Leicester City could be set to lose star man Bilal El Khannouss on a cut-price deal due to a £22.5m relegation release clause, reports TalkSport.
Leicester City will be aiming to build momentum and make meaningful strides in their pre-season preparations following the appointment of Marti Cifuentes as their new manager. The Spaniard arrives from QPR, having recently been on gardening leave.

The Foxes’ passionate fanbase has long craved stability, and there is hope that Cifuentes can deliver just that. Still, true stability must begin at the top, and the club’s ownership and board have faced increasing criticism in recent years.

With financial challenges looming and the threat of a potential points deduction, retaining key players at the King Power Stadium may prove difficult. And now, new developments hint that one of those stars could bring in even less money than previously expected.

According to TalkSport, Leicester City could be set to lose star man Bilal El Khannouss on a cut-price deal. This is due to a now active relegation release clause in his contract of just £22.5m.

Interest in the Moroccan is hotting up with four Premier League clubs keen. Sunderland are thought to be leading the race, while Nottingham Forest, Everton and West Ham are also interested.

European clubs Monaco and Bayer Leverkusen are also keen. It is highly likely the El Khannouss will be leaving LCFC this summer.

Relegated clubs don’t always part ways with their top talents, and Leicester City could see some key players remain despite their return to the Championship.

However, among the standout names at the King Power Stadium, El Khannouss is widely expected to move on to a new challenge this summer. The Moroccan looked a cut above to his piers last season in the top flight.

Sadly for them, the price of £22.5m likely does not reflect the quality of El Khannouss. With the issues surrouning them at the minute, LCFC will be disaapointed to lose him at such a low price.

Time for Monga to step-up?
El Khannouss’ departure could open up a first team spot for starlet Jeremy Monga. LCFC’s relegation likely means more gametime for the 16-year-old.

Now he could be given a direct route into the side with Leicester City’s limited budget. He still has a lot of competition for those attacking midfield spots though.

Will Alves could also be in line for some football at the King Power. It could be a big year for the LCFC academy graduates.
