That’s according to Mediaset journalist Gianni Balzarini on his official Youtube channel, with him providing details of the negotiations today.

Everton have been linked with a move for the former Aston Villa midfielder over the last few weeks, with the Blues expected to be busy this summer reshaping David Moyes’ squad.

The belief is that they are battling West Ham for the midfielder, who is expected to leave Juventus this summer after a miserable year at the Italian club following his move from Villa Park last summer.

Juventus would like to recoup as much of the €51.5m they paid for the midfielder as possible but so far neither Everton nor West Ham have shown a willingness to pay such a sum.

They are instead focused on a loan deal, with reports this week stating Everton had stepped ahead of their Premier League counterparts in negotiations.

Balzarini certainly believes that is the case, and reports that Everton and Juventus are working on an agreement that suits both.

“So we talked about the exit options. There’s Douglas Luiz, who Everton are acting quite seriously for,” he said.

“Juve want to make €40m. A guarantee of €10m plus €30m. Everton are currently reaching €30m overall. I think an agreement will be reached there too.

“Everyone has their own opinion, for some he’s very strong, for others he’s a dud, you see how in football there are a wide variety of opinions, one diametrically opposed to the other, so everyone has their own opinion, but Douglas Lewis is officially on his way out.”
