Anthony Elanga replacement has said yes to joining Nottingham Forest potential contract until 2030…

Nottingham Forest have ramped up the intensity in their search for an Anthony Elanga replacement, reaching a verbal agreement with a highly sought-after winger.

As his switch to Newcastle United was moving closer, Forest fans had mixed feelings about losing Elanga, as while he was brilliant under Nuno Espírito Santo, the fee received was one that gave the club the chance to replace him adequately.

So far, though, this replacement hasn’t quite gone to plan, with top target Johan Bakayoko opting to move to RB Leipzig over a Premier League switch.

This disappointment clearly hasn’t slowed the recruitment team down, as reports are now suggesting that Forest have agreed personal terms with another exciting wide option.

Forest aren’t short of options in the transfer market, with Yoane Wissa still a top target but one that comes with competition from other Premier League sides.

With this in mind, Edu has shifted his attention to the Serie A, where journalist Luca Bendoni reports that Forest have taken significant steps to sign Bologna star Dan Ndoye.

It’s still to be understood if #NFFC will bid soon to Bologna. #Napoli are still very strong on him. W/@ManuBaio (1st) on… pic.twitter.com/FQVurb0zyC

It is believed that Serie A champions Napoli also have an agreement in place with Ndoye, leaving the two sides to discuss a fee for Ndoye with Bologna.

The Swiss international certainly boasts the goalscoring pedigree to be an adequate replacement for the departed Elanga, as well as covering other positions as he can operate off the left or even centrally.

However, the fee itself still needs to be agreed, and the noises coming from Bologna are suggesting that little progress has been made on that front.

Bologna have received no bids for Dan Ndoye
It took a number of bids for Newcastle to finally agree a deal for Elanga that satisfied Evangelos Marinakis.

He had every right to be stubborn, though, and it seems as if Bologna are happy to take the identical stance in negotiations for Ndoye.

Speaking at a charity event (via tuttomercato), Bologna’s Sporting Director Marco Di Vaio said: “The boy has some interest, but not officially from any team.

“We’re also talking to him about the possibility of extending and improving his contract, and he’s also open to it. The goal is to maintain the team’s structure and make as few changes as possible.”

Forest will need to place a bid to learn more about how Bologna will approach the negotiations, but it seems unlikely that Ndoye will sign a new contract at the Italian side, given his willingness to agree to personal terms with two other clubs.
