Nottingham Forest aim to repeat Gonzalo Montiel trick as offer submitted for defender courted by Newcastle
Nottingham Forest are trying to strengthen the squad across the pitch before the Premier League season gets underway.
So far, it’s been a pretty turbulent summer for Nuno Espirito Santo. Newcastle have signed Anthony Elanga, while Morgan Gibbs-White is attracting interest from Tottenham.
Forest are keen on Dan Ndoye from Bologna and it does appear as though wingers are the immediate priority when it comes to players arriving at the City Ground.
Defensively, it doesn’t look as though Forest are finished yet either and now, another name looks to be on the list.
Nottingham Forest submit an offer to sign Nahuel Molina
According to AS, the Reds are keen to bring the defender to the City Ground this summer and things look to be ramping up.
It’s since been suggested by AS journalist, Jorge Garcia, that Forest have now made an offer to sign the player from Atletico Madrid.
Molina has been with Atletico since 2022, when he checked in from Udinese and since then he’s made 135 appearances for Los Rojiblancos.
The 27-year-old could now be on the move, although it doesn’t suggest in the report what sort of fee will be required to prise him away from Metropolitano.
Atletico have some issues with their non-EU player quota right now and that has led to Diego Simeone sanctioning a departure for his right-back.
Forest trying to repeat Gonzalo Montiel trick
Much like the former Forest right-back, Molina was in the Argentina squad that won the World Cup and perhaps the Reds have a thing for Argentine full-backs.
The challenge for Molina will be to come in and make more of an impact than Montiel.
Although he wasn’t completely disastrous at Forest, Montiel struggled for regular minutes and subsequently proved very erratic.
Molina has 52 caps for Argentina and if a deal can be struck, this could prove to be a very good signing from a Forest perspective, with European football on the horizon.
James McAtee makes a major transfer decision, it’s great news for Nottingham Forest
James McAtee has been one of Nottingham Forest’s top summer targets and has just given the Reds a boost to secure his services.
Nottingham Forest News understands that McAtee was open to moving to Forest, but the Manchester City man had plenty of options to consider for his next move.
Like plenty of young English talents, McAtee had options in Germany from the likes of Eintracht Frankfurt and Bayer Leverkusen, where he would be able to ply his trade in the Champions League.
West Ham have also shown interest in McAtee as a Premier League rival, but the England U21 international has just made a decision that will significantly boost Forest’s chances.
James McAtee rules out move in major Nottingham Forest boost
Given the continued potential of Morgan Gibbs-White’s exit, Forest have advanced their efforts to sign McAtee, but the option of German football remained a constant complication.
However, according to Sky Sports
, McAtee has decided to reject any move to Germany, giving Forest a major boost to finally secure their man.
The report said: “James McAtee has rejected a move abroad amid interest from clubs in Germany and Italy. It’s understood the Manchester City midfielder prefers to stay in England.”
