Crystal Palace have just blown Wolves out of the water as 13-goal transfer target closes in on move .

Wolves have stalled in their hunt for a new striker to compete with Jorgen Strand Larsen in the 2025/26 season.

Strand Larsen plundered 14 goals in his debut campaign at Molineux, but it became clear that the Norwegian needs support, something Vitor Pereira is keen to add.

Wolves have been heavily linked to Yuri Alberto from Corinthians, although the Brazilian’s injury and their reluctance to sell have made it difficult to complete a transfer.

Earlier in the window, Wolves were also interested in Mihailo Ivanovic from Millwall after his stunning campaign in the Championship.

Ivanovic joined a raft of other players touted with a switch to Wolverhampton, but as it stands, they’re no closer to sealing a rival for Strand Larsen.

Wolves target Evan Guessand closes in on Crystal Palace move
Following the exit of Matheus Cunha in June, Wolves were considering a move for Evan Guessand, the clinical OGC Nice striker who scored 13 goals in all competitions last term.

Wolves fans were excited over links to Guessand, seeing him as a possible replacement for Cunha and someone capable of playing as a striker.

Though the Old Gold were met with a familiar problem in their pursuit, as it was claimed that Guessand’s asking price was too high for Wolves after Fenerbahce launched a £26 million bid for the attacker.

Nice reportedly wanted around £34 million for the Ivory Coast international. However, since Wolves don’t want to spend more than £21 million on a single player this summer, he was out of their reach.

That is why supporters will be angry to find out that the 24-year-old is closing in on a move to Premier League rivals Crystal Palace, as reported by Sporting News journalist Chris Wheatley.

Palace are in ‘pole position’ to sign the centre-forward and are ‘confident’ of getting a transfer over the line, dealing a blow to the Wanderers after their previous interest.

Wolves can never progress under Fosun
While Wolves are in a strong position with PSR after the sales of Cunha and Rayan Ait-Nouri, there remains one clear problem in their quest to move forward as a club.

Although it was claimed the ‘penny had dropped’ with Fosun at the start of the summer, and they wanted to spend money to compete, their transfer window so far suggests that isn’t the case.

Wolves pulled out of a move for Richard Rios due to the asking price being at £26 million which suggests spending anything above £20 million is a problem.

Fosun have run the Old Gold sustainability with their current model, but sadly, it limits their chances of progressing as a club and pushing away from being consistent relegation battlers.

Pereira has aims of finishing in mid-table, though the lack of backing in the transfer window suggests that goal will be tough to achieve.
