Nottingham Forest transfer latest – £43m winger eyed Douglas Luiz update Tavernier link…
Latest Nottingham Forest transfer news as Nuno Espirito Santo’s Reds target summer window signings
Chelsea’s Christopher Nkunku has been linked with Nottingham Forest
It is proving to be a challenging transfer window for Nottingham Forest as they seek reinforcements for Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad.
Just two new signings have come through the City Ground doors so far, leaving the Reds with plenty of work to do. Head coach Nuno requires options across the pitch ahead of next season’s European campaign.
Although there has been little by way of actual movement Trentside, there has been no shortage of rumours and gossip. Below, NottinghamshireLive takes a look at the latest Forest transfer talk.

Nkunku interest
The Reds added Igor Jesus to their forward ranks earlier this month. But they could still be on the lookout for extra firepower, with Chelsea’s Christopher Nkunku on their radar.
The versatile attacker is expected to be on the move from Stamford Bridge this summer and has plenty of clubs competing for his signature. According to The Telegraph, Forest are among them having ‘registered an interest’ in the 27-year-old.
Bayern Munich, Newcastle United and Serie A sides are said to have done the same while Manchester United have been heavily linked. A price tag of £43 million has been mooted – reduced from a reported £65m earlier in the window.
Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano said on X earlier this week: “Christopher Nkunku’s exit from Chelsea this summer remains almost guaranteed. Nkunku wants to play more with several top clubs keen in the background; Chelsea are open to selling him since January. More contacts will follow soon.”
‘Whirlwind’ stint
Lewis O’Brien has described his time at Forest as a ‘whirlwind’, following his switch to Wrexham. The midfielder completed a permanent move to the Welsh club on Thursday, ending a three-year spell with the Reds.
O’Brien made 17 appearances in the Garibaldi, with his time Trentside featuring a succession of loan moves. He is now eager to settle in one place.
“I’m absolutely buzzing. It’s been a long time coming but to finally be here feels great,” the former Huddersfield Town man told Wrexham’s official website after putting pen to paper. “The last couple of years have been a bit of a whirlwind for me and my family but to sign somewhere I can call home is a great feeling.
“After speaking to everyone at the club it felt like somewhere with a lot of ambition and wants to move in the right way. That made me want to be a part of that journey and I want to help take the club to where it wants to be.”
Luiz stand-off
On Thursday, it was reported Reds target Douglas Luiz had not turned up for pre-season training with Juventus. The midfielder is expected to head elsewhere this summer, with a return to the Premier League said to be his preference.
His no-show has not exactly gone down well in Italy. Newspaper Corriere dello Sport described the club as being ‘left reeling’ by Luiz’s decision to skip training, with disciplinary measures likely to be taken.
Former Manchester United goalkeeper Massimo Taibi has pulled no punches in his assessment of the situation. The Italian told TuttoJuve: “I’d try to hurt him financially, because a professional can’t behave like that.
“He should definitely pack his bags as soon as he returns; it’s disrespectful. It’s absurd that there are people who still allow themselves to do this. I can’t stand certain things. If I had someone like him in my squad, I’d kick his ***.”
Tavernier eyed
Out wide is an area Forest certainly need to strengthen, following the departures of Anthony Elanga and Ramon Sosa. A number of wingers have been linked with moves to the City Ground, and a new name has now been added to the club’s list of potential targets.
According to TBR Football, the Reds are keen on Bournemouth’s Marcus Tavernier. Forest are said to be ‘monitoring’ the 26-year-old’s situation on the south coast.
