Nottingham Forest plot move to reunite Nuno Espírito Santo with a ‘special’ talent he absolutely adores
Nottingham Forest are in need of some reinforcements before the Premier League season starts, and Nuno Espírito Santo will be particularly delighted about one linked option.
The Forest manager would’ve been delighted at how the transfer window had kicked off, with Forest signing Igor Jesus to add the extra striking option that became desperately required at the end of last season.
However, the window took a turn when Anthony Elanga signed for Newcastle United, made even worse when Morgan Gibbs-White’s potential move to Tottenham began to gather pace.
It’s not all bad news for Espírito Santo, though, as a new report has linked the Reds with a bid for an attacking talent he has history with.
Nottingham Forest plot move for Nuno Espírito Santo favourite
As well as Elanga, Forest sold Ramon Sosa to Palmeiras and are still in negotiations to potentially move Jota Silva on to Sporting, making additions out wide a necessity to build a squad capable of competing domestically and in Europe.
Espírito Santo has a history of getting the best out of dynamic wingers as a manager, with one in particular from his time at Wolves now linked with a potential switch to the City Ground.
According to ESPN, Forest are considering a move to bring in Adama Traoré from Fulham, reuniting Nuno with a wide player who possesses remarkable physical abilities.
Traoré’s reputation in the Premier League is one of immense pace but not necessarily the end product to back it up. However, the Spaniard actually registered seven league assists last season so he could offer value to the right side.
His strengths are well known and as an option for Espírito Santo, he could be incredibly valuable, especially given how highly the Portuguese manager rates Traoré’s ability.
Nuno Espírito Santo has always backed Adama Traoré to succeed
Traoré truly is one of the Premier League’s most unique stars of the modern era, possessing attributes that are seemingly impossible to defend but never quite being able to convert his work out wide into consistent goal contributions.
His successes last season could be something to build on, though, with nobody better in football to keep Traoré firing than Espírito Santo himself.
Speaking to Sky Sports about the winger in 2020, he said: “Adama is a special player, he is unique, and I think when he is on the pitch he already has an impact on the game.
“Of course he has things to improve and then after that it is our decision how we use players and manage the team in the game plan and the moment.”
As a replacement for Sosa or Jota, Traoré could be a truly exciting addition at the City Ground, but it remains to be seen whether Forest can strike a deal with Fulham.
