Leeds United transfer doors open as Weah agent puts Juventus on blast
Leeds United may have an opportunity to make an offer for Juventus forward Timothy Weah this transfer window.
The 25-year-old’s future looks to be away from Turin after barely playing for Igor Tudor’s team in the Club World Cup.
Weah is a concrete target at Elland Road, with the Whites still waiting in the wings to see how the attacker’s situation develops at the Serie A outfit.
While Olympique Marseille seem to be leading Daniel Farke’s team in the race for the USMNT star with 44 caps, the Italian club may have opened the doors for his move to West Yorkshire.
Juventus waiting for Premier League offer amid Leeds United transfer interest in Weah
Juventus are waiting for an offer from the Premier League for Weah, Badou Sambague says.
The 25-year-old forward’s agent has taken aim at an unnamed figure in the Italian club’s hierarchy for hindering a transfer, putting the Serie A outfit on blast.
Speaking to The Athletic (27 July), the forward’s agent said: “The sporting department is managed by three persons. Two have class, and another is still searching himself. We cannot blame him. Two are looking for solutions, and one is creating problems. And we can’t let that go.
“Weah, is always professional, was left out during the [Club] World Cup. This person botched his [Club] World Cup, tried to force him to go where he wanted. Today, as revenge, he’s demanding a fortune and waiting for a Premier League offer that won’t come and will never be approved by us.”
While it appears that Weah’s representatives have no intention of accepting a deal with a Premier League outfit, Juventus may persuade them to reconsider.
The Whites have potentially been presented with an opportunity at Elland Road to put in an offer for the 25-year-old and see how things unfold.
Farke needs more attackers at Leeds this transfer window
Feyenoord attacker Igor Paixao could sign for the West Yorkshire outfit in the coming hours, giving Farke a much-needed option out wide.
The German manager will undoubtedly need further reinforcements up top if Leeds lose any of their attackers before the end of August.
Mateo Joseph has told Farke he wants to leave the Whites this summer, and a replacement will evidently be needed for the Spain Under-21 international.
Patrick Bamford also looks to be surplus to requirements in LS11, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Elland Road hierarchy turn their attention to Weah’s predicament at Juventus.
