Daniel Levy has ambitiously set his sights on trying to pursue a move for highly regarded Real Madrid Brazilian winger Rodrygo in the ongoing summer transfer window as the 63-year-old club chairman looks to give his new head coach, Thomas Frank, some highly regarded attacking options in his roster before going into the new season.
However, the fact that a lot of clubs are lining up for his signature, particularly from the Premiership, means that the probability of the Lilywhites getting their hands on him remains relatively lower given how Daniel Levy will have a lot of convincing to do if Tottenham are to actually secure his signature.

And this is why Tottenham needs to ensure that there is a viable contingency plan in place should the move for Rodrygo not materialise (given how Tottenham has already had multiple such setbacks in the transfer window, first with Norgaard and then with Morgan Gibbs-White). So if such a situation were to arise, Newcastle United’s high-flying wide forward Anthony Gordon, who is establishing himself as a rising fan favourite at St. James’ Park, can be an ideal alternative that Daniel Levy & Co. should consider.

The England international is only twenty-four (24), and he has established his credentials as one of the most exciting talents in the English top tier given how he brings his energy in his performances for Newcastle United, which have earned him a lot of praise from both the Toons supporters as well as neutrals.
Given his extensive experience in the English top tier, it ensures that the North Londoners are signing a player who already knows the pace and power of the Premier League, given how there is a huge risk with signing players from the outside who have never played in England, given how the football here is more intense and physical and the game moves faster (and if Tottenham does sign Rodrygo, the Brazilian, he would need some adaptation time, and there will still be some question marks on whether he can adapt or not).
How can Gordon fit in at Tottenham under Thomas Frank?

If we think about Thomas Frank, we have seen how his setup at Brentford thrived when deploying high press whilst having this positional discipline with explosive wide players and then deploying quick transitions. And if we have seen Gordon in the past few seasons, he fits seamlessly into this tactical mould. Given the Everton academy graduate has this relentless pressing ability complemented by his high-energy playing style, which also allows him to come back and help defensively, which makes him ideal to play in the structured football of the Dane head coach at Hotspur Way.
The 24-year-old also has this ability to take up multiple attacking roles, which makes it ideal for him to play on either flank or through central zones as well as in a more secondary role, which adds tactical versatility to Thomas Frank’s side. And this gives the Dane head coach that ability to adapt his attacking setup based on the opponent or how the game is going.
And with Heung Min-Son’s physical decline, he could take up that role on the left flank given how he is consistently a nightmare to his marking fullback.
It also makes financial sense to opt for Gordon

The Newcastle United wide forward has been beaming with potential, but when it comes to money, it is a general expectation that a deal for Rodrygo could demand a substantial financial commitment, possibly stretching beyond £100 million, making Gordon more economically viable.
And while it is unlikely for Newcastle United to sell one of their key players, we saw how Liverpool has been pushing for either of him or Isak, and Tottenham could end up taking advantage of these dialogues and push for a move for the England international.
