Everton close to making two signings including Championship teenager tipped to go ‘right to the top’
Everton have a lot of business left to do in the transfer market.
David Moyes openly admitted a couple of months ago that Everton’s squad is set to undergo a major overhaul.
Several first-teamers left upon the expiry of their contracts this month, with Abdoulaye Doucoure and Dominic Calvert-Lewin notable departures.
Moyes has been eyeing Douglas Luiz as a potential Doucoure replacement, and it’s being reported that a loan with an option to buy offer is being readied.
Mihailo Ivanovic is also on Everton’s radar after his impressive 13-goal season with Championship outfit Millwall.
Now, it’s coming to light that Everton are closing in on two teenage signings.
Everton close to signing John Dodds and Reuben Gokah
Everton’s academy was labelled a ‘disgrace’ by a source close to the club earlier this year, with just 40 scouts employed at grassroots level.
During Moyes’ first reign at the club, 300 scouts were deployed around the country recruiting some of the finest talents.
So, the Friedkin Group have pumped significant investment into improving the academy, with Manchester United chief Nick Cox joining the Toffees.
Cox’s appointment is considered a real coup and already he is pulling the strings on Merseyside, with two talented teenagers close to making a switch to Finch Farm.
According to the Athletic, Everton are close to signing John Dodds from Hearts and Reuben Gokah from Charlton Athletic.
The 16-year-olds are expected to be part of the under-18s, initially.
Reuben Gokah tipped to go ‘right to the top’
Gokah, who represents England at youth level, is a highly-rated central defender, and his imminent arrival marks a change in direction for the club.
Gokah is being tipped to go ‘right to the top’ and it’s been years since Everton have made these types of additions.
Clearly, the Friedkins view the academy as a key part of their ambitious project, so expect further signings of this ilk.
Dodds is also a centre-back and has been watched by a plethora of clubs in Scotland and England, making his transfer another coup in the academy sphere.
It’s understood Moyes wants to tap into his native Scotland to recruit more talented youngsters.
Everton made aware of £35m relegation release clause as David Moyes eyes former Chelsea attacker
David Moyes has made two signings so far this summer transfer window.
Everton have completed the signing of Thierno Barry from Villarreal, and Carlos Alcaraz has already joined on a permanent transfer.
Moyes is now exploring a deal to sign Liverpool’s Ben Doak, who Arne Slot is willing to sell for around £30m.
Juventus’ Douglas Luiz is also on Everton’s radar as the Scotsman looks to overhaul his midfield ranks following the exits of Orel Mangala and Abdoulaye Doucoure.
Now, there has been a fresh development on one of Everton’s winger targets.
Everton made aware of Omari Hutchinson’s £35m relegation release clause
Everton are interested in signing Omari Hutchinson following his impressive season with Ipswich Town, despite suffering relegation.
Hutchinson also enjoyed a really productive campaign at the under-21 European Championships this summer, helping England to retain their crown.
The 2003-born netted in the 3-2 win against Germany in the final, operating as a touchline left-winger that day.
