Sky Sports: Sunderland Make Approach to Sign Chelsea Forward…

Sunderland’s whirlwind summer could be set to continue further with a top new addition, according to reports – with Chelsea youngster Marc Guiu in their sights in the form of a loan approach for his talents.

The Black Cats have added various positions in their transfer window so far, with their marquee signing being former Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka, although a plethora of wingers have also come into their ranks – notably Brighton star Simon Adingra, whilst coveted midfielders Habib Diarra and Noah Sadiki have also joined their squad.

However, it appears that manager Regis Le Bris is not done there – and with their striking ranks failing to be improved so far this summer, a new talisman is at the top of the list.

And with that in mind, the report by Sky Sports journalist Keith Downie states that Sunderland are in talks to sign Chelsea starlet Guiu on loan, in what has been an incredible window so far from the Black Cats on their return to the Premier League.

The teenage striker is available on loan thanks to the arrivals of Joao Pedro and Liam Delap, and now the north-east side have made an approach to the Blues as they look to bolster their attacking talent for the season ahead.

The former Barcelona youngster could be the cherry on the icing on the cake for Le Bris’ side ahead of the new campaign.

Guiu featured in just three Premier League games last season, totalling 70 minutes in fixtures against Crystal Palace, West Ham United and Manchester City – though it was in the Conference League where he found form.

Four starts in the new European competition saw him notch in an 8-0 win over FC Noah in November, before five goals in the space of a week – including a hat-trick against Irish outfit Shamrock Rovers – saw him lead the way in their continental crusade.

Two further appearances in the Club World Cup, a tournament that Chelsea also won, alongside cameos in the FA Cup and League Cup saw him become a solid option in their heavy schedule as a hot prospect, but first-team minutes are in order with Delap, Pedro and Nicolas Jackson all in the frame for minutes at present.
