Their previous management, under John Textor, had agreed a deal worth €8m for the goalkeeper but the new management at the club wanted that cancelled. They had even commissioned a lawyer to try and reach an amicable agreement with Nottingham Forest so they could cancel the previous agreement.

Lyon report that Evangelos Marinakis ‘remained deaf’ to the efforts, though, and so Lyon will now have to accept the deal is happening.

Instead, Turner is set to sign for the previous agreement and sign a three-year deal. but he won’t be staying as Lyon’s new management have worked out a deal for him to be loaned to MLS side New England Revolution.

That works for Turner as he can be a regular and compete for a spot in the United States’ team for the World Cup next year.
