Leeds United receive Jack Rudoni transfer response amid Newcastle interest in Coventry City star

Jack Rudoni has been linked with a move to Leeds United in the summer transfer window after a stunning season with Coventry City in the Championship

There’s no doubt that Jack Rudoni has attracted the attention of other sides after a screaming season at Coventry City saw him secure ten goals and 12 assists in 45 appearances. The Coventry City star was instrumental in the Sky Blues’ impressive run to the Championship play-off semi-final and played a pivotal role in Frank Lampard’s side securing fifth place.

Leeds United are reportedly setting their sights on a new number 10 this summer as they gear up for another season in the Premier League. Among those linked to Elland Road is Rudoni. Daniel Farke’s team are reportedly eyeing up a creative playmaker to help the goals flow at Elland Road to keep them in the top-flight at the first attempt, and have recently been touted to make a move for the Sky Blues man.

Rudoni is also reportedly on the radar of Newcastle United as the Magpies are rumoured to also be interested in the midfielder.

Snapped up from Huddersfield Town last summer for £5m — the 23-year-old talent is also said to be on Newcastle United’s wish-list.

Sky Sports pundit Don Goodman commented on the situation and said: “I understand the interest and would understand the interest from Jack Rudoni’s perspective of playing in the Premier League.

“I do think Coventry will be really positive in the summer and Jack Rudoni is playing for his boyhood hero under Frank Lampard. Coventry will show ambition to be at the very top of the Championship next season, whereas if he goes to Leeds United, will he get the game time? That would be a question.

“You obviously have to back yourself and have confidence In your own ability as a player and I’m sure he would do that. I can understand temptation, but I’d be thinking very carefully about it.”

It’s no surprise that Jack Rudoni is already the talk of the tabloids when it comes to summer transfer speculation and Coventry City.

Linked with interest from Newcastle United and newly promoted Leeds United so far, the 23-year-old’s impressive numbers in his first season with the Sky Blues – ten goals and 13 assists – make him the club’s most saleable asset heading into an exciting window for the club.

Frank Lampard has his feet under the table at Ryton and will be determined to add strength to crucial areas of his team in his first major transfer window since his arrival at the CBS Arena last November in a bid to go one better in terms of getting over the promotion line in the 2025/26 campaign – which will be the 46-year-old’s first full season in charge of the Championship club.

He’s had time to assess his largely inherited squad and already handed out new contracts to Ben Wilson, Jake Bidwell and Tatsuhiro Sakamoto while triggering an option in Jamie Allen’s deal to keep him at the club for another 12 months.

He’s made two new signings since taking over from Mark Robins, with Matt Grimes the standout addition to the squad in January when Jamie Paterson also earned himself a short-term deal at his hometown club. The latter, however, was more of a stop-gap signing amid mounting injuries to help get City to the play-offs with his experience and ability.

Now turning his attention to adding real quality and depth over the next eight weeks of the close season, Lampard is not likely to be ready to let his best attacking player leave the club. Indeed, Rudoni – along with Grimes – are players whom the head coach can build his team around rather than look to replace any time soon.
