Leeds United and Daniel Farke will be absolutely delighted as Sky Sports make announcement.
Leeds United and Daniel Farke have a great reason to be cheerful about Sky Sports’ announcement following the release of the Premier League fixture list for 2025-26.
Leeds United have been living in dreamland since Daniel Farke’s side won the Championship title with 100 points, sealing their Premier League return in style.
Now, those dreams have become tangible after the 2025-26 Premier League fixtures were released at 9am on Wednesday morning, with mixed results.
December is already looking frightening as Leeds will play Liverpool twice as well as Chelsea, Brentford, Crystal Palace and Sunderland in that month alone.
In another annoying twist, Leeds must wait until the new year before facing Manchester United again, with the fierce rivalry taking place at Elland Road first on January 3.
Though there are difficult spells throughout the campaign, of course, Leeds do have a reasonably comfortable-looking opening few months, which all gets underway against Everton.
However, Leeds will once again be left waiting as they won’t get their season started until the Monday after the opening weekend. Yet, it might actually be a big boost to Leeds.

Leeds United’s record in Monday night games
Unlike the pesky early Saturday kick-off slot, which cursed Leeds until they broke it at the death on the final day against Plymouth, Mondays were a happy day to play for the Whites last season.

So while some Leeds fans are annoyed about the move, Farke may be delighted to be opening the campaign on one.
Leeds played five massive games on a Monday during 2024-25, winning four and drawing just one against their fellow 100-pointers, Burnley.
Farke’s side picked up crucial victories over promotion rivals Sunderland and Sheffield United on successive Mondays in February.
The 6-0 demolition of Stoke City on Easter Monday would lead to promotion being secured before their final Monday triumph came in a 4-0 smashing of Bristol City in their last home game of the season a week later.
If that form continues, Leeds should start the season on fire.
Leeds United results on Mondays in 2024-25:
Burnley 0-0 Leeds
Leeds 2-1 Sunderland – Goals: Struijk (78, 90+5)
Sheffield United 1-3 Leeds – Goals: Firpo (72), Tanaka (89), Piroe (90)
Leeds 6-0 Stoke – Goals: Joel Piroe (6,8, 20, 41), Firpo (26), Gnonto (59)
Leeds 4-0 Bristol City – Goals: Tanaka (21), Gnonto (55), Ramazani (82, 90+4)
Leeds United fans react as Everton Premier League fixture is moved to Monday
Leeds fans were repeatedly left frustrated by Sky Sports rearranging their fixtures last season and it didn’t take long for it to happen again.
The Premier League season gets underway on Friday, August 15, with reigning champions Liverpool taking on Bournemouth, while eight more games will take place across Saturday and Sunday.
Leeds and Everton will watch everyone else have their fun before they can finally take to the field on Monday, August 18, at 8pm, as the game has been selected for coverage on Sky’s Monday Night Football.
Predictably, some fans have been left annoyed that the game has been moved to the time slot.
One fan took to X, formerly Twitter, to write: “First home game on a Monday night is not ideal, but let’s continue the trend of being good on Monday nights, please.”
What about us being on Monday night 😂

“Opening Premier League home game for #lufc on a Monday night, marvellous,” another fan added with an accompanying face-palm emoji.

However, perhaps surprisingly, some fans quite like the idea of the game taking place as the sun sets over Elland Road, predicting it will help create a great atmosphere against a proper club like Everton.
“Actually happy with that Monday night game under the lights and against #EFC too,” one fan explained. “Atmosphere should be cracking.”
Sky sports Leeds are well and truly back! Monday Night football first game 🥳🥳#lufc

One supporter concluded: “Monday Night Football to kick the season off. We’re officially back lads and lasses.”
