Winners and losers from an Owen Beck transfer to Wrexham include £350000 player and Sam Smith.
Wrexham are looking to improve their backline ahead of the 2025/26 season.
A number of left-sided defenders have already been tipped to move to the Racecourse Ground this summer.
Wrexham have spoken to Ben Davies about a transfer, though that deal could prove difficult due to his wage and the fact Tottenham Hotspur have triggered a one-year contract extension.
Elsewhere, West Ham United’s Aaron Cresswell has been linked as he prepares to leave the London Stadium on a free this month.
More recently, it has emerged that Wrexham want to sign Owen Beck from Liverpool, who could be loaned out by the Reds ahead of 2025/26.
We have now taken a look at the potential winners and losers should Beck sign for Phil Parkinson’s team.

Winners from Owen Beck transfer to Wrexham
Sam Smith
Sam Smith excelled following his January transfer to Wrexham in the second half of 2024/25.
He scored seven League One goals, nearly matching Steven Fletcher (8) for the most scored by a striker across all of last season.
However, there were times when Smith was isolated up front and not receiving enough service.
In the Championship, it’s imperative that Wrexham have fast wing-backs capable of bombing up and down the flank for a full 90 minutes.
Beck has already proven he can do that in the second tier, and he will hopefully provide quality service to the Dragons’ frontline.

Ryan Hardie
Wrexham signed Ryan Hardie from Plymouth Argyle earlier this week to partner Smith.
The striker will likely fit into the ‘big man’ role previously held by Ollie Palmer and Jay Rodriguez.
The 6ft 2 Hardie should benefit greatly from a player like Beck providing crosses to him on a regular basis.
Beck played predominantly as a left-back for Blackburn, but he did operate in a wing-back role a few times last term.
Phil Parkinson
Phil Parkinson wants ‘pace and power’ from the players Wrexham sign this summer.
Speaking back in May, he said: “Power and pace are key. You look at the physical data and it jumps from League Two to League One but then it goes up again (in the Championship), certainly in high-speed running and the sprint distance and the power of the players. We need to be ready for that.”
And he will certainly get that from Beck, who is younger and quicker than some of the club’s other wing-back options.
Losers from Owen Beck transfer to Wrexham
Jacob Mendy
Jacob Mendy is already very far down the left-back pecking order at Wrexham.
James McClean is the club captain and spent the majority of 2024/25 as their starting left-wing-back.
Ryan Longman enjoyed stints on the left of the back five after his January signing as well, while Sebastian Revan is another option.
Should Beck sign, it would surely be even more likely than it already is that Mendy will be moved on this summer.
Sebastian Revan
Revan, who signed for £350,000 last summer, is in a very similar situation to Mendy as Beck’s arrival would likely see him become fourth-choice left-back at best.
Revan impressed at times in 2024/25, but he was also labelled as the most disappointing Wrexham player by one journalist.
Given his age, it would make sense for Revan to be loaned out ahead of 2025/26, potentially to a League One side.
