‘Emery and Monchi could quit Aston Villa’ as takeover news emerges – Exclusive.
Monchi has been linked with an Aston Villa exit, and it has now been suggested that Unai Emery could follow the president of football operations out the door.
Emery and Monchi were reunited at Villa in 2023 after working together previously at Sevilla.
Their time together in England has been a success, with Monchi recently proving his worth with an agreement for Zepiqueno Redmond almost over the line.
Emery’s fortunes have been even greater, with the Spaniard establishing Villa as a top Premier League outfit and guiding them back to the upper echelons of European football.
However, both could be in line for a shock exit from the West Midlands after recent takeover news.

Sevilla could bring Monchi back to Spain, Emery could follow
Monchi’s association with Sevilla dwarfs Emery’s, as the 56-year-old played solely for the La Liga side during a nine-year playing career as a goalkeeper.
MORE VILLA STORIES He quickly took over as director of football in 2000, and aside from a brief spell at Roma, he continued to work with Sevilla until leaving to join Villa and reunite with Emery in 2023.
As reported by ABC (19 June), Monchi could be tempted to leave Villa to return for a third spell as sporting director with the Andalusian outfit as Sevilla edge closer to a takeover.
And ex-Villa scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Villa News – believes the new Sevilla regime could look to bring in both Emery and Monchi as they aim to make their mark in Spain.
“When Monchi was at Sevilla, Emery was there too,” King said.
“Emery was the man who convinced Monchi to join Aston Villa. Therefore, it will be interesting to see how much friendship is worth.
“Perhaps these potential new owners are looking at Monchi, and if things don’t work out at Aston Villa, Emery as well. Could Emery return to the club where he enjoyed a lot of success? These new owners might want to make their mark. Bringing in Monchi and Emery would be quite a coup for them.”

Villa must keep Emery at all costs
The departure of Monchi would be a difficult pill for the Villa faithful to swallow. However, it would pale in comparison to Emery potentially leaving, too.
Key decisions in recruitment across the board, including hiring his former colleague, were made to support the former Arsenal manager.
The team, staff and arguably the vision of the club are built in Emery’s image. Therefore Villa must do everything within their power to ensure the 53-year-old remains and continues the project they are building under him.
