Wolves join Aston Villa in transfer race for ‘special’ midfielder who was on Matt Hobbs’ radar for months…
Wolves are looking to follow up the signing of Fer Lopez – and the club reportedly have eyes on a midfielder who is currently up in Scotland.
Wolves landed Lopez a few days ago in a £19.5 million deal from Celta Vigo.
His signing was welcome news for fans, who spent the first two weeks watching several individuals leave Molineux.
And it wasn’t just players leaving. Matt Hobbs departed Wolves after there was a shake-up at board room level.
His sporting director role was dissolved, and now Domenico Teti has come in as the new technical director. He will work closely with Vitor Pereira, and also Jorge Mendes and his associate Valdir Cardoso.
Even though Hobbs has gone, it appears Wolves are still keen on one of his targets.

Even though Teti is now the technical director at Molineux, Raskin’s name is high on the agenda.
Wolves’ new director of player recruitment and development Matt Jackson, is also thought to be keen on Raskin.
Supposedly, the Belgian international is keen to make the step up to the Premier League.
It’s stated that Aston Villa have also been showing interest in Raskin, who is also courted by Marseille, Porto and Fiorentina.
Raskin is aware of the interest Wolves have held since January 2024 and is open to the move. But Rangers’ new head coach Russell Martin will fight to keep him, seeing him as a key man.

Dynamic Nico Raskin brings ‘fire’ to games
Wolves are in the mix for a new midfielder this summer, with there being uncertainty around the likes of Tommy Doyle and Boubacar Traore.
According to Football Talent Scout, Raskin is a ‘tactically intelligent, versatile and charismatic midfielder, gifted with good ball skills, mobility, distribution, vision, and ability to read the game’. He’s also stated to be a ‘natural leader’.
Luka Elsner, his former manager at Standard Liege, said of Raskin in November 2023 (via Rangers Review): “He’s there to win the ball, instead of just reading passes and trying to intercept. Nico goes to the player to take the ball away.

“He has a good shot and cross and is able to appear in the box as well. He will rarely lose the ball, holds it under pressure well and can scan the whole pitch.
“He is a big fighter on the field, being a leader in terms of the energy he brings on the pitch. It comes naturally because of his charisma. Nico is able to bring fire to a game by himself and always gives his best.
“For me, those are the qualities that stand out and make him some kind of special player.
