Coventry City have been quiet so far in the summer transfer window, but that will certainly change over the coming months as Frank Lampard looks to improve on last season’s heartache.
The 2024/25 Championship campaign ended in tears for Coventry City after defeat in the play-off semi-finals to eventual winners Sunderland.
Coventry were shellshocked by Black Cats defender Dan Ballard’s late dramatic winner in extra-time to send Sunderland to Wembley, and condemn the Sky Blues to another season in the second tier.
The main rumours regarding business at Coventry so far in the summer transfer window have been concerned with potential departures of crucial members to Frank Lampard’s squad.
As the 2025/26 Championship campaign edges closer, EFL Analysis has taken a look at what a dream transfer window would look like for Coventry.

Jack Rudoni stays at Coventry City amid Sheffield United interest
Attacking midfielder Jack Rudoni cemented himself as one of the Championship’s best players last season for his exploits under Lampard.
After scoring ten goals and notching 13 assists in 50 Championship games, the Englishman has been the subject of vast transfer interest this summer.
EFL Analysis previously revealed that Sheffield United have targeted Rudoni as a potential replacement for Gus Hamer, and Coventry fans were not happy about potentially losing the talented 24-year-old who shone under Lampard’s tutelage.
After his brace against Middlesbrough on the final day of the regular season, Lampard was waxing lyrical to CoventryLive about his star pupil.
Lampard said: “He’s such a talented boy and he’s a pleasure to work with.
“The way he trains, he wants to get better, he engages all the time because he wants to score goals. Me and him stay on our own and we practice.
“But I work with him and he’s brilliant, great energy, great quality, the way he moves with the ball, and he can score different types of goals, the header… I couldn’t score those headers.”
The Sky Blues hierarchy must rebuff the reports that Coventry ‘will sell’ Rudoni this summer, because he will be imperative to the club’s push for promotion next season, as he was this term.
Coventry City keep Haji Wright as Championship rivals interested
Another prized asset that Coventry fans will be desperate to see the club keep hold of this summer is forward Haji Wright.
Wright notched 12 goals last term, to take his tally to 31 goals in 81 games for Coventry since his arrival from Antalyaspor in 2023, and his goalscoring prowess has attracted Championship interest.

Recently-relegated duo Leicester and Ipswich are keen on Wright, and with several other clubs also tracking the 27-year-old striker, Coventry fans are worried about losing Wright this summer.
In a bittersweet turn of fate, this component of Coventry’s dream summer window could’ve been deterred by USA international Wright withdrawing from the Gold Cup due to an achilles injury.
Sky Blues supporters will be hoping the 12-goal forward is not only a Coventry player come August, but is also fit for the start of next season.

Coventry City sign Aston Villa starlet Kaine Kesler-Hayden
In terms of incomings at the CBS Arena, Coventry fans will be hoping that their left full-back role can be boosted for next season, with the acquisition of Aston Villa ace Kaine Kesler-Hayden.
Coventry are tracking Kesler-Hayden following his impressive season on loan at Preston North End, in which he notched five direct combined goal contributions in 44 Championship outings.
Villa are believed to want around £5m for the 22-year-old starlet, and with Middlesbrough and Southampton also targeting Kesler-Hayden, Coventry must swoop to secure the Englishman’s services this summer as he would be a sizable improvement on Jay Dasilva.
Coventry’s recent acquisition of Spanish left-back Miguel Angel Brau from Granada CF could deter this potential move.
Regardless, a player of Kesler-Hayden’s potential and versatility should not be missed out on by the Sky Blues hierarchy.
