Pundit reckons Derby County would be ‘over the moon’ amid fresh Liverpool transfer link
Latest Derby County news from DerbyshireLive brings you what has been said about a potential move for Liverpool defender Owen Beck
Lee Hendrie believes Owen Beck would be a good signing for Derby County amid claims that John Eustace is keen on signing the Liverpool defender for a second time.
Beck enjoyed a season-long loan spell with Blackburn Rovers last season having been added to the squad by Eustace last summer.
Now it is claimed that Derby’s head coach is keen on being reunited with the 22-year-old who could be set for another loan move to help further his development.
Now it is claimed that Derby’s head coach is keen on being reunited with the 22-year-old who could be set for another loan move to help further his development.
And with Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas still on the books, the chances of being a regular first-team player under Arne Slot is remote for now.
Beck has also been linked to Rangers but Sky Sports pundit Hendrie feels linking back up with Eustace would be good for the player and for Derby.
“When you start bringing in that calibre of player, and Owen Beck is a very good player, from the likes of top clubs in Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea, knowing that they can go in and play, then I think it would be a super signing,” he told FLW.
“It’s always good when you have that connection with someone and that’s what Eustace has had.
“He knows the player that he’s bringing in, he knows what he’s expecting, and I think Derby fans will be over the moon if that deal gets done.”
Beck made 25 appearances for Blackburn last season until a hamstring problem curtailed his season back in March.
Derby did transfer business with Liverpool last season when they signed Nat Phillips on loan from Anfield where he played an integral role in the club’s fight against relegation.
Phillips scored a pivotal goal in the 1-0 win at Hull towards the end of the campaign. His nine-year association with Liverpool came to an end this summer, however, after he sealed a move to West Brom.
The fee is believed to be £1m rising to £3m based on various clauses being activated.
Owen Beck urged to take Liverpool exit route with Championship transfer
Championship team Derby County is interested in signing Liverpool defender Owen Beck this summer, and one British soccer pundit believes the youngster should take that opportunity
Former Premier League star Lee Hendrie believes Liverpool youngster Owen Beck would be a valuable addition to Championship team Derby County.
Hendrie’s verdict comes after reports emerged that Derby manager John Eustace is interested in signing the Liverpool defender for a second time. Beck spent last season on loan at fellow Championship team Blackburn, having been brought into the squad by Eustace the previous summer.
Now, it’s suggested that Derby’s boss is eager to reunite with the 22-year-old, who could be poised for another loan spell to further his development. Beck, a left-back who’s recently been linked to boyhood club Wrexham, has made just three senior appearances for Liverpool, all under former boss Jurgen Klopp.
The route to Liverpool’s first team is currently crowded, especially after the Reds recently completed a deal for Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez.
With Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas still part of the squad, the likelihood of Beck becoming a regular first-team player under Arne Slot seems slim at present.
Beck has also been linked with Rangers, but Sky Sports pundit Hendrie believes reuniting with Eustace would benefit both the player and Derby.
