Derby County Closing In On Double Swoop
Blackburn Rovers duo Danny Batth and Andreas Weimann were at Derby County’s training ground on Thursday to finalise moves to the Rams, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.
The Rams are finally up and running in this summer transfer window, as striker Carlton Morris has been brought in.
But they are just getting started, as the Derby hierarchy are backing John Eustace, who kept them safe after Paul Warne’s sacking.
Jerry Yates will be heading back to his parent club, Swansea City, which has made them look to add more than one frontman to their side.
The Rams are in pole position to land Charlotte FC’s Patrick Agyemang, amid a host of interest from other Championship clubs.
Now they are heading towards an experienced attacker in the shape of Weimann, who has more than 350 Championship appearances to his name and plays for Blackburn Rovers.
Another Rovers star, Batth, is also on the same page, as he and Weimann were at Derby’s training facilities on Thursday before they finalise their switches.
Eustace coached them at Ewood Park in the first half of the recent campaign and now he is set to reunite with them.
Batth and Weimann were important parts of the Blackburn Rovers side and the club also offered them contract extensions.
Batth played 41 times, while Weimann featured in 34 matches, but neither of them are staying at Ewood Park.
Derby could benefit a lot from Batth and Weimann’s potential arrivals, with their vast experience of the Championship helping the Rams.
It remains to be seen how soon Derby will announce their arrivals as the end of the month, when they will be free agents, approaches.

Luton Town boss responds after Derby County complete transfer raid
Latest Derby County news from DerbyshireLive brings you what Matt Bloomfield has had to say after Morris joined the Rams la
Luton Town manager Matt Bloomfield understands why Carlton Morris wanted to leave the Hatters for Derby County but says he leaves with their “best wishes”.
Morris completed his switch to Derby last night, signing a three-year contract for an undisclosed fee.
Revamping the club’s forward line has been a priority for Derby as they look to improve their output of goals, something which head coach John Eustace noted in a fans’ forum this week.
Morris, who was Luton captain, was highly regarded at Kenilworth Road but following their relegation to League One, Bloomfield accepted why he wanted to depart.
“In the relatively short spell that we have worked with him, he has led by example and given everything for the cause,” he said.
“We understand his desire to continue his career at the highest level he can and he leaves to join Derby with our best wishes.
“I’m sure I speak for everyone in saying he’ll always be a welcome visitor at Kenilworth Road for what he helped the club achieve, and we all wish him well for his future career.”
Morris played an integral role for Luton as they marched into the Premier League in the 2022-23 season when he scored 20 goals in the Championship.
He then followed that up with a very creditable 11 goals in the Premier League, but couldn’t stop Luton from being relegated.
Last season proved more difficult as the Hatters struggled across the course of the campaign and he finished the season with eight goals to his name.
Speaking about the move, Morris said: “It’s a massive club that I’ve heard a lot of good things about. When they came in for me, it was a bit of a no-brainer, really.
[The move is] a big change, especially with my family. You want to know about the football club, about the area, and I’ve heard nothing but good. I’ve heard it’s a great family club, so I’m excited to get going.”
