Worrying Sheffield Wednesday takeover setback confirmed..
A deal to buy Sheffield Wednesday from Dejphon Chansiri by an unnamed consortium has ‘completely stalled’ when talks were believed to be at an advanced stage.
The Owls fans are desperate for Chansiri’s time in charge of the club to come to an end, with Wednesday having been hit with EFL sanctions due to the mismanagement of the club by the Thai businessman, which includes failing to pay all wages on time in the past two months.

Since then, a host of names have been linked with the club, with businessman Adam Shaw leading a group that were keen on the club, and Houston Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta another name in the frame.
Sheffield Wednesday takeover latest as talks stall
It was revealed last week that an unnamed potential buyer was closing in on an agreement with Chansiri to buy the Championship outfit, and there was a hope that a deal would be finalised swiftly.
However, in a concerning twist, the Sheffield Star has stated that discussions have now ‘completely stalled’, although it’s not clear as to why that has happened.
Obviously, that is a major setback for Wednesday, but the update did confirm that there remains plenty of interest in the club, and they reiterate that Chansiri is open to a sale.
Djeidi Gassama
It’s also explained that Djeidi Gassama’s sale to Rangers, for around £2.2m, which was announced on Tuesday, has helped the situation at the club in the short-term.
Sheffield Wednesday will be desperate for a takeover to go through quickly
Any takeover is a complicated process, and we have seen with plenty of clubs in the past that it’s not done until everything is signed and sealed.
We don’t know the full reason behind this deal stalling, and it’s far from ideal that it happened at a point when Wednesday believed there would be a breakthrough.

But, the one positive is that there is plenty of other interest in the club, and now Chansiri needs to engage in talks with those parties, to come to an agreement as quickly as possible.
Of course, he can’t just sell the club to anyone, but there will be hope that there are genuine buyers out there who can take the club out of their current messy situation.
Clearly, Gassama’s sale has helped right now, but it hasn’t solved all their problems, and further issues won’t be far away, with staff due their wages in a few weeks.
