West Ham have reportedly contacted intermediaries as they look to sign a stunning replacement for Mohammed Kudus, who was identified by Kyle Macaulay back in January.
The target was a leading name on a list of targets compiled by recruitment chief Kyle Macaulay when he arrived at West Ham from Chelsea shortly after Graham Potter took charge.
It is safe to say West Ham’s transfer window has well and truly come to life.
After seven long weeks with no action, the sale of Mohammed Kudus seems to have freed Potter and Macaulay from their recruitment shackles.

El Hadji Malick Diouf and Kyle Walker-Peters have arrived following Kudus’ £54.5m sale to Spurs.
There is mounting speculation – and clues – that the Hammers are in the early throes of signing a top goalkeeper.
The new week has started in positive fashion for the Irons too.
Because overnight it was claimed West Ham have agreed a deal to sign an exciting young defender.
There is plenty more work to do in other areas of the pitch, though.
Particularly in midfield, where the Hammers want at least two new signings ahead of further departures.
The likes of Guido Rodriguez and Edson Alvarez are reportedly up for sale as Potter eyes a new-look engine room.
West Ham’s midfield has long been identified as the team’s most pressing problem.
It is sorely lacking in athleticism, dynamism, pace, power and guile.

Sudakov identified by West Ham recruitment chief Macaulay
Back in February, Hammers News reported on claims that Macaulay had made Shakhtar Donetsk playmaker Georgiy Sudakov a prime West Ham target for the summer window.
It was claimed a summer exit looked highly likely for the 22-year-old Ukraine midfielder.
The star’s former boss Marino Pusic labelled alleged Hammers target Sudakov as ‘exceptionally talented‘.
Reporter Valentin Furlan claimed in May that West Ham had lodged an enquiry for Sudakov, but added that Napoli were at the front of the queue.
Juventus, Porto and Brentford were also being linked.
West Ham were given hope when Napoli pulled out of the Sudakov race after signing Kevin De Bruyne.
Now Sun journalist Nixon has claimed the Hammers are pushing to bring the talent to east London.
Reporting on his Patreon, Nixon claims West Ham have made contact with middle men over the weekend in a bid to agree a fee with the Hammers willing to go up to £30m.

Sudakov is open to leaving his war-torn country for the Irons, it is claimed.
In light of previous claims Shakhtar would want over £100m for the clever midfielder, Nixon says West Ham have been speaking to middle men to ‘get the real price’.
It is an exciting development given West Ham’s longstanding interest in the player.
But it sounds like it could be a long way off yet given the Hammers are refusing to go any higher than £30m.
It is an exciting link and a player profile which fits Potter and Macaulay’s stated philosophy to a tee.
Signing a top quality young talent like Sudakov would certainly take the edge off the loss of Kudus to rivals Spurs.
