“Newcastle will go big” – Huge push to sign £70m striker on a knife edge after talks..

Newcastle United begin their 2025/26 Premier League campaign in just under three weeks, and no one is quite certain who will be leading the lineup next season.

Alexander Isak still has the ‘not for sale’ label attached, but Liverpool seem ready to submit a bid that could tempt us into selling last season’s top scorer.

And as promising as Will Osula looks to be at the moment, it’s far more likely that the club enlists a new striker or two to try and make up for losing Isak’s immense goal contributions.

One of these targets, RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko, has had some interesting claims made about him by Fabrizio Romano in regards to our unorthodox pursuit of the player…

Sesko to St James’ Park?
Discussing the ongoing Benjamin Sesko saga, Fabrizio Romano has given us an update on where we are currently at regarding a deal for the striker.

“Expect to see an answer from Benjamin Sesko and his camp. They spoke to the player’s camp, and Newcastle presented the project.”

With Leipzig said to be demanding close to £70m in total for the Slovenian, our interest at this stage must be strong considering we wouldn’t even fathom paying around that price for other targets like Bryan Mbeumo.

“They’re prepared to make a very important financial proposal, but it’s not just about the money.”

”It’s also about the project: they want to make Benjamin Sesko the frontman, the face of the project once again. So we’re gonna see what’s going to happen there.”

We’re clearly trying hard to get Sesko lined up, but it’s on a knife edge, not just based on his eagerly awaited response to our proposal, but based on rival interest and Liverpool’s plans to sell Isak; who can’t be sold until we’ve a top replacement.

Man Utd and Liverpool waiting in the wings?
Rather annoyingly, if we’re going to go full throttle with a pursuit of Sesko, we’ll again have to do battle with one of the ‘Big Six’ for the player we want.

“Also there is still Manchester United discussing Benjamin Sesko internally at the club, still not made direct contact with the player or RB Leipzig.”

It’s been all too familiar situation all summer long: whether it was Liam Delap and Joao Pedro, or Hugo Ekitike and James Trafford, a large reason for our lack of success in the transfer market has been having to compete with sides who can more freely and willingly spend big on wages and fees.

Romano also hints that the Sesko negotiations will run concurrently with the potential sale of Isak to Liverpool, and there shouldn’t be an instance where we sell the Swede and still haven’t secured the Slovenian.

“Newcastle, to make an official bid, are waiting to understand what the player wants to do. But Newcastle will go big on Sesko: Liverpool are ready for Alexander Isak, waiting for Newcastle.

“Let’s also see what Manchester United also decide to do on Sesko: if they want to try on this one, or if they decide to move on different attackers.”
