Tottenham may not have met conditions of Morgan Gibbs-White’s release clause after all…
After Morgan Gibbs-White snubbed Tottenham Hotspur and committed to a new deal with Nottingham Forest, details are starting to emerge about the Lilywhites’ failed approach. Now, a new update suggests that Spurs might not have even activated Gibbs-White’s release clause.
News broke on Saturday that Gibbs-White decided to put pen to paper on a new contract at Nottingham Forest, with the development coming as a huge blow to the Lilywhites.
Just hours before the development, it was being reported by several sources that Gibbs-White remained keen to complete a move to Tottenham after the North Londoners met the player’s £60m release clause two and a half weeks ago.
However, the Forest star had a change of heart, and Gibbs-White has admitted that he is excited to spearhead the project at the City Ground.

Did Tottenham actually activate Morgan Gibbs-White’s clause?
The Telegraph have now said that not only were Forest upset about the breach of confidentiality by Spurs, but there are doubts about whether the Lilywhites actually paid the player’s clause.
It is now suggested that Tottenham Hotspur may not even have matched the exact terms in the clause.
The outlet says that the clause could have also contained several conditions apart from the fee, which the offer from Thomas Frank’s men may not have satisfied.

Forest were far from pleased with Spurs’ tactics and immediately sent a notice of legal action to Daniel Levy, while they also considered officially complaining to the Premier League.
Gibbs-White receives bumper deal as Evangelos Marinakis trumps Daniel Levy
The Telegraph confirm that Gibbs-White’s three-year deal does not contain a release clause and sees the 25-year-old become the highest earner in Forest’s history.
It is revealed that Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis views this as a major triumph over Tottenham and Levy, with the Greek billionaire feeling that the nature of the Spurs chairman’s approach was a slur against his club.
After tying down his key asset to a new deal, Marinakis has taken a jibe at Tottenham for their approach, insisting that he will never allow his club to be bullied by clubs using inappropriate tactics.
