Oliver Glasner could be handed Crystal Palace transfer wish as unwanted player attracts fresh interest…
Crystal Palace could get the opportunity to cut a player they don’t want going into the new season.
One unwanted Crystal Palace star could be a step closer to finding a new home after being frozen out by Oliver Glasner. Rob Holding once looked as though he would play a key part for the Eagles, but at the start of last season, he seemed to have some sort of disagreement with Glasner behind closed doors.

Glasner confirmed that Holding had been told to train alone upon the closing of the summer transfer window. He said: “Rob is training individually at the moment. We will talk together – he knows the reason. But it is something that stays between Rob and me. Nothing public.”
That situation was never resolved, and Holding wound up joining Sheffield United in the January transfer window, going on to make 11 league appearances for the Blades as they ultimately fell short of promotion, losing the Championship play-off final.Speaking after arriving at Bramall Lane, Holding told BBC Radio Sheffield: “I’ve been here for two weeks now and just slotting into the vibes around the changing room, the training ground and Bramall Lane has been so welcoming. I can feel that good energy and slotting in where I can has been very easy, the team have made it that.”

He added: “I was in a bit of a weird place where I was in my career and I needed a team to take a chance on me. I know my abilities and I know what I can bring to this team and to be fair to Sheffield United they took a chance because I’ve not played in so long. If I can repay that then all the better and that’s what I’m going to try and do.”
Holding also spoke about potentially being open for a permanent stay, adding: “Potentially yeah, it’s always going to be a discussion in the summer and we can see what happens. But it’s just something that I’m just enjoying in the moment right now and enjoying this journey with the team.”
Nothing has materialised at this still relatively early stage in the summer transfer window, but there now appears to be interest from abroad, and Holding could find himself playing football almost instantly if he is up for the move.
Interest from MLS
According to News Shopper, Holding is attracting interest from MLS, with Colorado Rapids reportedly exploring a possible deal. The Rapids are enjoying a solid season so far, currently in seventh place in the Western Conference, which is the last guaranteed play-off spot.
The MLS season is ongoing, with around 10 games remaining of the regular season, depending on the team, and so Holding could walk straight into playing regular football, which could suit him given he only played 11 games last season. According to the report, Palace are only asking for a nominal fee for Holding, hoping to get his wages off the book given he still has a year remaining on his current contract. It remains to be seen if the defender is keen on a move to the US, but it may be a good time to make the move as the States prepare to welcome the World Cup next year.
Holding played for Palace under-21s against Bromley this week and remains apart from the first team group.
