When word leaked out that one of their great rookies had been shot in the early hours of Sunday, the Houston Texans were definitely holding their breath. Tank Dell, an SMU product and rookie wideout, was shot and killed in Sanford, Florida, according to NFL source Aaron Wilson.

“Tank Dell was shot and killed yesterday night in Sanford, Florida, it has been reported to us. Despite having a little cut on him, he was discharged from the hospital and is doing well.

We are keeping in touch with him and his family and will send out any information as needed, but for now we ask that you respect his privacy. We are sending our condolences and prayers to everyone affected by the disaster.

At a Cabana Live Event, eleven persons had non-life-threatening injuries. The gunman, a 16-year-old, was recognized after the shooting, which took place on Saturday night after midnight.

The gunman was taken into custody on suspicion of attempted murder, firing a weapon on public grounds, and having a handgun in the possession of a kid, among other offenses, according to Fox 26.
