When word leaked out that one of their great rookies had been shot in the early hours of Sunday, the Houston Texans were definitely holding their breath. Tank Dell, an SMU product and rookie wideout, was shot and killed in Sanford, Florida, according to NFL source Aaron Wilson.
Dell was a casual observer who was caught in the crossfire of a mass shooting. Despite taking a bullet from the crossfire, Dell anticipates fully recovering. On Sunday, the Texans issued a statement about the circumstances.

“Tank Dell was shot and killed yesterday night in Sanford, Florida, it has been reported to us. Despite having a little cut on him, he was discharged from the hospital and is doing well.

At a Cabana Live Event, eleven persons had non-life-threatening injuries. The gunman, a 16-year-old, was recognized after the shooting, which took place on Saturday night after midnight.
The gunman was taken into custody on suspicion of attempted murder, firing a weapon on public grounds, and having a handgun in the possession of a kid, among other offenses, according to Fox 26.
