Charles Lee Celtics AC, Confirm Leave Hours Ago  for Charlotte Hornets job

Hours of Charles Lee Ago becomes a finalist for the Hornets position

In Charlotte, the assistant coach for the Celtics is one of the finalists.

According to reports, Charles Lee is becoming a finalist for the Charlotte Hornets’ first head coaching position. JJ Redick, an ESPN commentator and podcaster who has openly expressed his goal to become an NBA coach, presents a challenge to Lee.

During the 2023 offseason, Lee joined Joe Mazzulla’s staff after playing for the Milwaukee Bucks. On the Boston team, he serves as the primary assistant. Prior to this, Lee had interviews with the Phoenix Suns, Toronto Raptors, Detroit Pistons, and Milwaukee Bucks for head coaching positions.

In the event that Lee joins the Hornets, it will mark the acceptance of a head coaching position by one of Boston’s assistant coaches for the second consecutive year. After taking a job as Georgia Tech’s head coach, Damon Stoudamire left the Celtics during their playoff run in the previous year.

Lee was a part of the Milwaukee Bucks’ 2021 championship team. He may finish this season with a second ring in his collection. The Hornets, who are rebuilding, will have taken note of his performance with the Celtics.

Professionally, Charlotte is probably a tempting possibility. They have three promising young players: Mark Williams, LaMelo Ball, and Brandon Miller. Grant Williams, who has postseason experience and made an impression since joining his local team, is also a member of the team. In addition, the Hornets just changed ownership, and it’s obvious that they want to start establishing the team as a future contender.

Lee would be joining a youthful, talented, but inexperienced group when he joined the Hornets. Without the demands of a team with a larger fan base, he would have more time to put his plan into practice and nurture his players. His tenure on several elite benches would guarantee that he had the esteem of the locker room.

If given the opportunity, Lee would probably stay on Mazzulla’s staff until the end of the season, unlike Stoudamire. Consequently, Boston would have adequate resources to pursue a title.
