Today, April 28, Brian Dooley, a former offensive lineman at Eastern Michigan University (Bowling Green, Ohio/Toledo St. John’s Jesuit), signed a free agency deal with the Tennessee Titans of the National Football League. Hours Prior.
Michigan’s YPSILANTI (EMUEagles.com) –Today, April 28, Brian Dooley, a former offensive lineman at Eastern Michigan University (Bowling Green, Ohio/Toledo St. John’s Jesuit), signed a free agency deal with the Tennessee Titans of the National Football League. Dooley, who holds the record for most career games started and played at EMU, gained national attention for a very unselfish deed that won him the 2023 Disney Spirit Award.
Dooley captained the Eagles offensive line in the 2023 season and has been a mainstay of Eastern Michigan football since the 2018 season. This is Dooley’s third All-MAC second-team distinction in his graduate student tenure; he was named to the third team in 2021 and the second team in 2022.
The ‘Iron Man’ of EMU football, Dooley has 62 games started and 60 starts, which places him in the top three nationally among active players. He also owns the school record for both stats. With 4,0541 career snaps on the field, the Bowling Green, Ohio, graduate only gave up quarterback pressure on 4% of his total offensive snaps.
Since 1996, Walt Disney World Resort has honored the most inspiring college football players annually with the Disney Spirit Award. The purpose of the award is to recognize individuals such as Dooley who exhibit an unwavering determination and a readiness to assist others. His commitment to the community is remarkable; he has completed over 100 hours of volunteer work in local schools and took part in a mission trip to Guatemala. Perhaps his greatest act of generosity, though, occurred before the 2023 season when he offered a fellow lineman who was doing construction and donated plasma to attempt to pay for tuition his full-ride scholarship.
One of the most productive tackles in the MAC, Dooley has been nominated for numerous prestigious college football awards, such as the Witten Award, which is given to a person who has shown a record of leadership by displaying extraordinary courage, integrity, and sportsmanship both on and off the field, and the Wuerffel Trophy, which is given to college football’s top community servant.
