GOOD NEWS: Braves HC Considering Signing White Sox Key Players

It would be worthwhile to research the White Sox’s decline. Not even five years later, they have swiftly fallen back to being among the poorest teams in all of baseball.

They were once seen in a similar light as the Braves, with a youthful club seemingly on the verge of something remarkable.

Bob Nightingale reports that the team intends to make many important veterans available before to the trade deadline, indicating that they are on the verge of an eventual fire sale.

The Braves have dropped five of their last six games, including a three-game sweep at Chavez Ravine, and are going through one of their worst runs in recent memory.

The panic meter is still, in my opinion, as near to 0 as it gets. As long as the club remains healthy, major adjustments are not required, but little upgrades might be crucial to capturing a seventh consecutive division victory and, ideally, another World Series.

These are the people that catch my attention on Nightengale’s list.

Fedde, Erick

New White Sox starter Erick Fedde wasn't afraid of change - Chicago Sun-Times

Fedde’s tenure with the Washington Nationals, where he spent six years as the Braves punching bag, may be recognizable to certain fans.

He’s having a career year in Chicago, with a 3.46 ERA and 9.5 strikeouts per nine innings through his first seven starts.

The stuff isn’t spectacular. Pitching depth is something you can never have too much of, and Fedde shouldn’t be too expensive to acquire at the trading deadline.

Michael Kopec

White Sox Pitcher Michael Kopech Opts Out Of 2020 Season

On the list as a whole, this is the most intriguing name. Kopech has been a starter and a reliever in the past.

Though he always had trouble with control, his stuff is amazing. But starting pitching development isn’t exactly the White Sox’s strong suit.

Maybe a shift in environment would be beneficial for him. In the postseason, velocity is important, and if Kopech is good at anything, it’s creating heat.

Eloy Jimenez

Early in his career, Jimenez seemed to be headed for superstardom, but during the past several seasons, he has devolved into a mediocre player.

Once more, here is a talented but relatively young player who is in dire need of a change of environment.

Although the Braves don’t really need another bat right now, it’s never a terrible idea to take a chance on a talented but underachieving 27-year-old.

Pham Tommy

Chicago White Sox: Veteran OF Tommy Pham joins struggling team

I don’t know exactly what transpired with Tommy Pham during the off-season. After the Diamondbacks acquired him at the trade deadline, he was a terrific player the previous season and helped lead the team to a World Series.

But this offseason, no one appeared to want him, and in mid-April, he settled for a one-year contract with the White Sox.

The Braves could use a bit more asshole in their clubhouse, and while Pham isn’t a world beater, he has shown himself to be a clutch player. I wouldn’t mind acquiring some insurance at the trade deadline if Jarred Kelenic keeps having trouble with the stick.
