GOOD NEWS: Auburn Tigers HC Confirm Big Surprise Top LB Super Star

Tyler Lockhart, a linebacker ranked 247, surprised Auburn on Monday night by declaring his commitment to the Tigers.

Lockhart, who is listed at 6-foot-3 and 200 pounds, is ranked No. 133 player, No. 16 linebacker, and No. 4 player from Mississippi by 247Sports.

Lockhart is ranked as the No. 145 player, No. 18 linebacker, and No. 6 player from Mississippi in the industry-generated 247Sports Composite.

Lockhart visited Auburn on March 30, this spring, and was largely recruited by D.J. Durkin, the linebackers coach and defensive coordinator.

Lockhart remarked, “I like it,” following the visit. “The protection. The linebackers’ style of play.I like Coach Durkin. He is a decent man.”

The native of Magnolia, Alabama, gave Mississippi State, where his elder brother TJ signed as an offensive tackle in the 2024 class, serious consideration as well.

However, the younger Lockhart ends up being a member of Auburn’s class of 2025.

Hugh Freeze, who was born in Mississippi, assisted Lockhart in being recruited.

Lockhart remarked, “I think if I came here, we’d have a good relationship.”

After Auburn previously lost out on a pledge from three-star tight end Hollis Davidson, the Tigers went out and signed Lokchart to finish the day.

Lockart, whose class is inside the top-10 of the 247Sports team recruiting rankings, puts the Tigers back at double-digit commitments.

Lockhart is Auburn’s first linebacker commitment of the class. Devin Williams, an edge rusher/linebacker, defensive lineman Malik Autry and Jourdin Crawford, and cornerback Malik Autry also join Lockhart on the defensive side of the ball.
