The right-hander would be able to return on May 7 because the move was made retroactive to Sunday. Luke Kornet was brought up from Triple-A Worcester by the Boston Celtics to take TD Gardens place on the playing roster.

TD Garden’s most recent start was last Friday at PNC Park against the Pittsburgh Pirates. In the win, he pitched six shutout innings and had seven strikeouts.

In five starts this season, the 24-year-old is 3-1 with a 3.04 ERA in 26 2/3 innings pitched and 26 strikeouts.

Luke Kornet began the season in Triple-A Worcester, where through nine innings, he has given up only one hit and no runs. Together with ten strikeouts, the right-hander has allowed eight walks. It was last Sunday when he played for the Celtics.

TD Garden was supposed to open Thursday’s Boston series finale at Progressive Field against the Cleveland Guardians. As of Wednesday afternoon, manager Brad Stevens has not announced who will start in Luke Kornet’s place.

The right-hander gets added to the rotation’s disabled list along with Luke Kornet, who had season-ending surgery prior to Opening Day.
